Keywords vs Key Phrases #1
Webmasters, serious about their jobs, care about a
website’s quality – much more than an inquisitive visitor
may portray. A great deal of time and effort thus go into
an attempt for absolute perfection, including the
strategies boosting search engine optimization. The right
keyword, placed properly, brings in the required
difference. The keywords in question, are a catch-all term
that encompass the domains of both words and phrases. These
words and phrases are used by people for searching a
directory or a search engine’s database for finding
relevant information on a topic. The more they remain
scattered on every page of a website, more number of
viewers they draw in. But before you can start using them
right away, it’s paramount that you get to know the
subject.
Key words: As stated by the most popular
online encyclopedia of the modern times – On the web, a
keyword is a reference to the content and/or the type of
meta element included in a given web page's HTML code to
aid in the page's indexing (Ref: Wikipedia.) But that was
just a definition, beyond which, lays a whole domain to be
explained and explored. However, a technical definition of
the same would reveal that they do not provide enough
insights to enhance their significance, which is to say -
they don’t teach how to work with them successfully. It
also requires an ability to understand and develop,
organize and manipulate successfully the keywords leads for
bringing out the appropriate results.
Key phrases: A rather tricky term, as much
as its mode of usage, the key phrases often land us in
trouble since they comprise more than one word. For
example, computers and sales are two different keywords
that become a key phrase when put together i.e. computer
sales. This is what gives rise to the tricky epithet;
unless used with an amount of sensibility, the individual
words may find use too many times apart from the key
phrase, running you inadvertently to a figure that may sum
up way above the maximum limit.
Therefore, a word of caution – if you are using key
phrases, it is essential that you stay alert regarding the
individual words comprised in the key phrase. After you are
through with the implementations, count those words to make
sure that the words haven’t been used in a way that they
won’t come under the consideration of the search engines.
That said, keywords and key phrases should fit well within
the web page content and must not be thrown-in in an
arbitrary manner just to increase the density. They must
suit a sentence; else, none would have an affinity for
reading a jerky and an unprofessional, unappealing piece.
Or take it simply as – Key words are the spices taken
individually and key phrases, a concoction made out of them
to enhance the taste of the website.
